Heartland Boss Amuneke set for Imo SWAN recognition on November 16th

Following his sterling contributions to the positive portrayal of Imo State within the country and overseas, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter will on Saturday November 16th, 2024 confer on former Super Eagles winger, Emmanuel Amuneke Imo SWAN Sports Legend of the Year Award 2024.

SWAN, Imo Chapter will have its annual Week from Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th November, 2024 with series of events and programmes earmarked to make the week-long activities memorable and the talk of the town thereafter.

The Imo SWAN Week will climax on Saturday November 16th with its award day and one of the important personalities to be recognised for his good deeds to the Eastern Heartland is Amuneke, an Olympic Games Gold Medallist, AFCON winner and 1994 CAF Footballer of the Year.

The Eziobodo, Owerri West born Heartland Technical Manager is deemed eminently qualified to hold the exalted position because of his love for Imo SWAN and his affection for humanity.

In a press statement jointly signed by SWAN, Imo Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka and Secretary, Tunde Liadi, the body disclosed that: “We write to officially notify you that you have been nominated for the prestigious award of Honour/Excellence as Imo SWAN Sports Legend of the Year Award.

“Your choice for the award is Imo SWAN’s token of appreciation for your immense contributions to the promotion and growth of sports in Imo State, nay Nigeria at large as well as your friendly disposition towards our Association.

“As one of the very few notable sports personalities carefully selected for this honour, we request your esteemed presence on the occasion of the grand finale of our Imo SWAN Week 2024 which holds on Saturday 16th November, 2024 at Rockview Hotel, Owerri.”

Amuneke has played for Julius Berger, Zamalek of Egypt, Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, Barcelona of Spain among others in his illustrious career and he is currently the Technical Manager of Heartland FC who are campaigning in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
