Heartland FC midfielder, Elvis Ori undergoes successful surgery

Heartland FC defensive midfielder, Elvis Ori has undergone a successful cheekbone surgery and will take about two months to recover.

Ori who was having a brilliant season on a personal note injured his left cheekbone when he came out worse after a head on collision with Bendel Insurance Uche Collins in the 78th minute of the NPFL Matchday 17 tie in Owerri last Sunday and had to be substituted immediately by Chinedu Ozor in the 80th minute of the tie.

Ori was wheeled to the theatre on Wednesday December 18th and after three hours of intensive surgery performed on him by the doctors of Galaxy British hospital, Owerri the broken cheekbone was fixed and the midfielder will return to football after his rehabilitation and recovery.

The midfielder, Ori told Heartland FC how It all happened and his joy that everyone at Heartland FC led by the Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke rallied round him and made it a point of necessity he was operated on to correct the cheekbone defects.

He also thanked the Imo State Government for the love and affection shown him ever since the incident happened last Sunday and that he had goosebumps when he was told the surgery would not be delayed.

“It was Matchday 17 against Bendel Insurance at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri that I had a head contact with a player of Bendel Insurance named Uche Collins,” Ori told Heartland FC Media.

“It happened at about 78th minute of the game and after the head contact I injured my cheekbone. According to the scan, my cheekbone got broken into three places and I was placed on surgery and it was done on December 18th between 7am and 10am.

“I give glory to God and also appreciate the Technical Manager of Heartland FC, Emmanuel Amuneke and others working with him and also the Imo State Government for standing by me throughout this period. I am indeed grateful and happy.

“I felt loved right from when the incident happened and I felt that I wasn’t alone. I am indebted to the entire Heartland FC and the Imo State Government led by Senator Hope Uzodinma.

“The calls the messages and the love I have received this period are enormous and it is like I have fully recovered even when I am still recovering.”
